The Full Speech of the Incoming President HE Sen. B A Tinubu

The Jagaban

My fellow Nigerians,

I am profoundly humbled that you have elected me to serve as the 16th president of our beloved republic. This is a shining moment in the life of any man and affirmation of our democratic existence. From my heart, I say thank you.

Whether you are Batified, Atikulated, Obidient, Kwankwasiyya, or have any other political affiliation, you voted for a better, more hopeful nation and I thank you for your participation and dedication to our democracy.

You decided to place your trust in the democratic vision of a Nigeria founded on shared prosperity and one nurtured by the ideals of unity, justice, peace and tolerance. Renewed hope has dawned in Nigeria.

We commend INEC for running a free and fair election. The lapses that did occur were relatively few in number and were immaterial to the final outcome. With each cycle of elections, we steadily perfect this process so vital to our democratic life.

Today, Nigeria stands tall as the giant of Africa. It shines even brighter as the continent’s biggest democracy.

I thank all who supported my campaign. From President Buhari who adeptly led my campaign as its chairman, to my Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima.

To the progressive governors of our party and this nation, to the party leadership, to our loyal party members. I owe you a debt of gratitude. To the entire campaign organization, I thank you sincerely.

I thank my loving wife and dear family whose support was ceaseless and inspiring. Without you, this victory would not be possible.

I am grateful to Almighty God. By His mercy, I was born a son of Nigeria and through His sublime purpose I find myself the victor of this election. May He grant me the wisdom and courage to lead the nation to the greatness He alone has destined for it.

Finally, I thank the Nigerian people for their abiding belief in our democracy. I shall be a fair leader to all Nigerians. I will be in tune with your aspirations, charge up your energies and harness your talents to deliver a nation that we can be proud of.

To my fellow candidates, former VP Atiku, former governor Kwankwaso, former governor Obi and all others, I extend the hand of friendship. This was a competitive, high-spirited campaign.

You have my utmost respect.

Political competition must now give way to political conciliation and inclusive governance.

During the election, you may have been my opponent but you were never my enemy. In my heart, you are my brothers.

Still, I know some candidates will be hard put to accept the election results. It is your right to seek legal recourse. What is neither right nor defensible is for anybody to resort to violence. Any challenge to the electoral outcome should be made in a court of law, and not in the streets.

I also ask my supporters to let peace reign and tensions fade. We ran a principled, peaceful and progressive campaign. The aftermath of our campaign must be as benign.

Yes, there are divisions amongst us that should not exist. Many people are uncertain, angry and hurt; I reach out to every one of you. Let the better aspects of our humanity step forward at this fateful moment. Let us begin to heal and bring calm to our nation.

Now, to you, the young people of this country, I hear you loud and clear. I understand your pains, your yearnings for good governance, a functional economy and a safe nation that protects you and your future.

I am aware that for many of you Nigeria has become a place of abiding challenges limiting your ability to see a bright future for yourselves.

Remodeling our precious national home requires the harmonious efforts of all of us, especially the youth. Working together, we shall move this nation as never before.

My running mate, Vice President-elect Shettima, and I understand the challenges ahead. More importantly, we also understand and deeply value the talent and innate goodness of you, the Nigerian people. We pledge to listen and to do the difficult things, the big deeds, that put us on the path of irreversible progress. Hold us firmly to account, but please give us a chance first.

Together, we shall build a brighter and more productive society for today, tomorrow and for years to come.

Today, you have given me the greatest honor you can bestow on one man.

I thank you all.

God bless you all.

Governor Simon Bako Lalong Heading to Becoming the Best Plateau State Governor.

The wisest of the wise generally believed that the end of the matter is better than the beginning thereof.

The APC government on the Plateau under the watch of governor Lalong started the popular slogan of  ‘governor alert ‘, but later on distracted by the evil hands of terrorist. From Barikin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, Mangu, Bassa, Jos North, Jos East, Wase, Kanam…LGAs, all had their fare share of troubles.

The climax was that the IGR and the monthly expected subvention were not able to fuel the development engine of Plateau.

So much abondant projects. From the inherited and the much spoken ‘legacy projects’ all over the 17 LGAs of Plateau State.

The negative narrative is changing by the recent actions of the executive governor and his team, in the areas of:

1. The emancipation of the people through the creation and upgrading of the Chiefdoms and Districts.

2. The revocation and the awarding of the Lalong legacy project to a more committed and promising contractors that is promising to deliver in 32 weeks.

3. Signing of the peace accord between the Irigwe people of Bassa LGA and the settled Fulanis in their domain. Through the show of the will power.

4. These among yet to be disclosed on the way policies that will alleviate the suffering of the people of the Plateau.

One of the key persons of this government disclosed to our reporter that Mr. Governor will stop at nothing than fulfilling His campaign promises to the loving people of Plateau State.

We are calling on the good people of Plateau State to prayerfully uphold the governor for greater good of our state and the development of the ‘Plateau culture’.

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE

Greetings from our hearts Mr. Governor, HE. RT. Hon. Barr. Simon Bako Lalong KSM, the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and the Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organization (flag bearers of the largest political party in Africa, All Progressive Party APC)!

We the people of Kazumung (Kabong) District as again gazetted (Gazette No 6 Volume 3, 11th September 2022), wish to state categorically that the concluding policies of your led government can be said to be pointing to the Biblical saying that, “the end of the matter is better than the beginning, and patience is better than pride” (Ecclesiastes 7:8).

To be more specific sir, the creation of the new and the upgrading of the existing chiefdoms and districts has brought joy to many lovers of Plateau, and also the apprehension of trouble merchants as usual. Herewith, we congratulate all legatees who are our true Plateau sons and daughters!

This among many is the fulfilment of one of your campaign promises to the people of Plateau! To this end, we sincerely implore the Good Lord to grant you His speed and wisdom to ‘finish strong’ for the benefit of the Plateau man and the glory of His name!

We, like ‘Oliver Twist’, pray that you will consider the creation of Local Government Development Areas too! This will help to bring  governance closer to the people.

Long live Kazumung (Kabong) District of Jos-Izere Chiefdom of Jos North LGA!

Long live Plateau State!

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!

AN URGENT CALL FOR ACTION TO STOP THE GENOCIDE TAKING PLACE IN IN IRIGWE LAND OF BASSA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF PLATEAU STATE BY FULANI MILITIAS.

4th August, 2021.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the press. I am pressed once more for the umpteenth time, on behalf of the ECWA Executive and the ECWA Family worldwide, to address the world, about an unfortunate event taking place right now on Plateau State of Nigeria as follows:

  1. For over 21 years, the Irigwe people of Miango, a predominant Christian community, have been under attacks from Fulani Malitia that resulted in loss of lives, properties and farmland. The last 2 weeks, especially from Sunday 23rd July to Monday 2nd August 2021 has been the worst nightmare of the entire Irigwe land. The Fulani Militia, with every of their might have invaded not less than 15 villages, burnt and destroyed not less than 405 houses and churches inclusive, displaced about 20,000 people and destroyed thousands of hectares of farm crops. The main town of Jebbu Miango and its surrounding villages such as Kpachudu, Kpetenvie, Nche-Tahu, Tafigana, DTV and Zahwra are completely burnt down and displaced. Irigwe villages in Kwall and some in southern parts of Kaduna State have experienced similar attacks within the same period. Some of these villages include; Isho, Zirshe, Chuweh, Ntireku, Ghey, Kangbro, Dundu and Hwraa.
  2. The IDPs from these villages are just camped within Miango and Kwall town. The situation is terrible and need urgent attention. Yet, even these two villages of refuge are presently threatened with genocidal attacks from the militias.
  3. What is so sad and inexplicable is that, many of the villages, where these killings and burnings are taking place, are basically located behind the 3rd Armored Division Barrack of the Nigerian Army, yet, these militias are allowed to continue their heinous murders and carnage without any intervention by the Nigerian Army and other security agencies. This in the least, is very fastly eroding the confidence of the populace in the military and security agencies, as unbiased protectors of all, devoid of tribe, ethnicity or religion.

We call on the state and federal governments and security agencies to intervene and prevail on the Nigerian Army and all security agencies to stop this genocide. The government must rise up to their responsibility of protecting lives and properties for all citizens irrespective of their tribes, ethnicity or religion, otherwise the country would fastly degenerate into total anarchy.

  1. We also pray that this incidence will not end as usual, with no single AK-47 wielding militia being arrested, persecuted and brought to justice, while the indigenous locals, who tried to defend themselves with crude instruments, are paraded as aggressors, as had happened in some past incidences. Justice must be done and seen to be done.
  2. Meanwhile, we also call on all the federal and state governments to, in the immediate, send relief materials to the displaced and distressed victims of this crisis, many who are hungry, homeless and helpless. The government should also deposit funds with selected reputable hospitals, for the treatment of the many victims of this crisis, who have sustained injuries of various degrees.
  3. We are further calling on all well meaning Nigerians, to be their brothers’ keepers and open up their homes for the displaced persons, provide support for food, water, clothing and medical services to all the victims.
  4. As a predominant Christian community under attack, the body of Christ within Nigeria and the world at large is particularly and deeply affected with this crisis. We call upon the entire Christendom to return to God in deep confession, repentance, supplication as we uphold our Brethren in prayer. God is watching and listening to our prayers and supplications. We should not give up calling upon Him and depend on Him wholly for this situation to be brought to an end, especially that all human authouries have woefully failed us. The gates of hades shall not prevail against the church of God in Jesus name! (Matthew 16:18). We should like king David in 1st Samuel 30:6, continue to find strength in the Lord!
  5. Nevertheless, ECWA in obedience to Matthew 5:9 injunction, shall as much as God gives us the grace, continue to work with the government, NIREC, security and all other agencies for lasting peace that is premised on equity, justice and fair play. We have no option than this, because the Spirit of Christ Jesus compels us.
  6. May the gracious Lord hear and answer our prayers and come to the rescue of our dear nation from the control of very wicked and evil people in Jesus name!

Storytelling in Jos

The subject under question is a quick reminder to those who 80s is their ID (Tells by Moonlight), a decade Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

6.30 pm on a Sunday evening we always sit down brothers and sisters around the lone TV houses in our communities.

Then the days of the dramas and subsequently the famous Nollywood productions that is the only indicator of Nigerians consuming local content.

The future that was, is and is to come is in the creativity and mental appealing contents. And whoever is ready to and prepared to satisfy the waiting audience, is the best thing to happen!
